Custom drawstring pouches are small cotton bags, typically 2x3 to 8x10 inches, closed with a cord and printed with your logo. They are used where the packaging is part of the gift: jewellery, wedding favours, soap, samples, small cosmetics, herbs and loose tea. BAGSGeek makes them in natural muslin and 145 GSM woven cotton in our own factory, from a minimum of 100 pieces.
A pouch is doing a different job from a bag. Nobody keeps a poly bag, but a cotton pouch gets reused for hair ties, coins, earphones or travel toiletries — which means your logo stays in a drawer somebody opens every week instead of going in the bin on day one.
Picking a pouch size
Measure the item at its widest point, add roughly half an inch either side, then add an inch and a half of height above it so the cord closes without straining the seam.
- 2x3 in — rings, earrings, single charms, seed packets, sample sachets.
- 3x4 in — pendants, coins, USB sticks, lip balms, small hardware.
- 4x6 in — the workhorse. Wedding favours, bracelets, soap bars, tea, herbs, cosmetics samples.
- 5x7 to 6x8 in — watches, glasses cases, candles, larger soap, small toys.
- 8x10 in — skincare sets, gift bundles, small shoes, accessory kits.

Muslin or standard cotton
Muslin is the lighter, more open weave. It drapes softly, lets air through and has the informal, natural look people associate with favours and handmade goods — and it is the more economical of the two. Standard 145 GSM cotton is denser and opaque, so it hides the contents until the pouch is opened and holds a crisper printed edge. For jewellery and premium gifting, choose the heavier cotton. For favours, herbs, tea and volume runs, muslin is usually the right answer.
Printing on something this small
The constraint on a pouch is the print, not the bag. On a 4x6 inch pouch the usable panel is roughly 3 x 3.5 inches, which is generous for a wordmark and tight for a detailed crest. Two rules save most jobs: use a single colour, because registration between colours is unforgiving at this scale, and simplify anything smaller than about 6pt, because fine lines fill in when ink meets an open cotton weave. Questions buyers ask
What size drawstring pouch do I need?
Measure the item at its widest point, add about half an inch either side, then add roughly an inch and a half of height so the cord closes cleanly. As a shortcut: 2x3 inches for rings and earrings, 3x4 for pendants and lip balms, 4x6 for favours, soap and bracelets, 5x7 to 6x8 for watches and candles, 8x10 for gift sets.
What is the difference between muslin and cotton pouches?

Can you print a logo on a pouch this small?
Yes. On a 4x6 inch pouch the usable panel is around 3 x 3.5 inches. Keep to a single colour and avoid type below about 6pt, because fine detail fills in when ink meets an open weave. We send a free digital proof at actual size so you can see exactly how it reads before anything is printed.
What is the minimum order for custom pouches?
100 pieces. Blank cotton pouches in standard sizes are held in stock with a listed price and ship in 24-48 hours, so those need no quote — the minimum applies to printed orders.
Can I mix pouch sizes in one order?
Yes, as long as the artwork stays the same the 100-piece minimum applies across the order rather than per size. Different artwork for each size means a separate screen setup, which we will price openly in the quote.
