Custom printed cotton tote bags are made-to-order shopping and promotional bags cut, sewn and screen printed in our own factory, from 9x11 inches up to 20x22 inches, flat or gusseted, in 145 GSM natural woven cotton or heavier canvas. Every printed order includes a free digital proof, and custom dimensions are available on request.
Pricing is quoted rather than listed, because a lightweight 12x14 promotional tote with a one-colour logo and a heavy 18x20 canvas tote with a gusset and a four-colour print are genuinely different products. Tell us the size, quantity and artwork and we come back with factory-direct pricing, usually within one working day.
Cotton or canvas: which tote should you print?
Both are woven cotton. The difference is weight and weave density, and it changes how the bag behaves and how the print sits.
- Standard cotton (145 GSM) — lighter and softer, folds flat, the most economical choice in volume. Right for event giveaways, retail carriers and large promotional runs.
- Canvas (heavier weight) — a tighter weave that holds its shape when the bag is empty and carries more weight without stretching. Right for grocery and book totes, premium retail and corporate gifting, and it takes embroidery well.
If the bag has to stand up on a table at an event, or carry anything heavy, choose canvas. If it has to be cheap per unit and handed out in quantity, choose standard cotton.
Flat or gusseted
A flat tote is two panels sewn together — the cheapest construction and the largest uninterrupted print panel. A gusseted tote adds a base and side panels so the bag opens into a box shape and holds bulkier contents upright. Gussets typically run 3 to 6 inches. Choose flat for print impact and price, gusseted for capacity and shelf presence.
Handles
Handle length decides whether the bag is carried by hand or over the shoulder. Short handles of roughly 20 to 22 inches total are hand-carry. Long handles of roughly 26 to 30 inches clear a shoulder and a winter coat, which matters for conference bags people wear all day. Handle width and stitching are specified per order, and reinforced stitching at the handle joins is standard on canvas.
Printing your logo on a tote
Screen printing is the standard: durable, washable and the lowest unit cost in volume, with each spot colour adding a screen. Embroidery is the premium alternative on canvas, giving a raised, textured mark that reads as a higher-value gift. Send vector artwork (AI, EPS or PDF) where you can. The printable panel is smaller than the bag: allow about an inch of clearance either side and keep the artwork clear of the handle seams. We confirm the exact imprint area on your proof.
